Disabled Dogs Thrive at Hounds Town USA 🐾

Since opening 15 years ago, Hounds Town USA has welcomed pups of all shapes, sizes, and abilities. Our fully interactive, indoor, 100% climate-controlled doggie daycare and overnight boarding facility is built for every dog. Our founder, Mike Gould, is a retired Commanding Officer of the Nassau County Canine Unit and co-founder of the NYPD canine unit. He built Hounds Town with one mission: no dog left behind.

"We've had deaf dogs, blind dogs, three-legged dogs, and pups with all kinds of physical disabilities come play, socialize, and do well here," says Mike.

With 35 years of professional dog-training experience, Mike insisted on an open-door policy. We welcome bully breeds like pit bulls, rottweilers, and German Shepherds that other places turned away. But it doesn't stop there! Disabled dogs who might struggle to find acceptance elsewhere feel at home here too.

Every Dog Finds Their Pack

"One day at our Ronkonkoma location, the group included a deaf dog, a blind dog, a three-legged pup, and a spry 14-year-old. You wouldn't have been able to pick the disabled dogs out of the pack," Mike explains.

That's what happens with careful attention and gentle help. Right here in our doggie daycare, every pup gets what they need to succeed.

A Million Dogs and Counting

Since 2001, Hounds Town USA has welcomed over 1,000,000 canine guests. Many of these dogs were turned away elsewhere due to breed, age, or physical limitations. We take pride in being the only locally inclusive, disability-friendly daycare and boarding facility, with no breed discrimination. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Every dog deserves a chance to play, socialize, and just be happy. No limitations, no judgment.
